How old do I have to be to start Driver's Education?

The Registry Of Motor Vehicles requires that you be at least 15 years and 9 months old before you can attend a certified Driver's Education Course.

What does the Driver's Education program consist of?

The Driver's Education course consists of a minimum of 30 hours of classroom time and 18 hours of road time (12 hours behind the wheel and 6 hours of observation).

What is a "Parent Class"?

The Parent Class is a class that is part of the Driver's Education program.  It requires parents (or their designee) to attend a two hour presentation that gives them a break-down of what their teenage driver is learning.  It also lets them know what responsibilities they have to insure their teenage driver is prepared to apply for their road test and what the limitations are for the Junior Operator License.

Where can I be picked up for a driving lesson?

You can’t. We meet all of our students at the Martha’s Vineyard High School Parking Lot to start lessons, but will drop off students in the Down Island Towns upon completion. We do not go further than Alley’s General Store or go down dirt roads for drop offs.

Where does the classroom instruction take place?

We hold all of our classroom instruction at the High School in room 307,  use the back entrance by the gym.

Can I book Several Driving Lessons in advance?

We book one lesson at a time. We have had very bad luck booking more than one at a time with students cancelling at the last minute “ because something came up”. This is not fair to other students trying to book hours nor is it fair to our business.
